Thought swiped from The Backyard Gang

Did you know?

I did not know about "Did You Know?" until I read about it at The Backyard Gang, however when directed to this trivia and facts site, I followed the "Free to Webmasters" link to find this widget. It's FREE, easy to place on your site, and gives fresh content every time the page is viewed.

BTW, although there were a few hairy days between now and my last thought, the last two days, which are more than a week post-chemo, have been more than okay, in fact they were pretty good.

Three days post-chemo, so far not so bad
05.24.09 - 8:52 am (CT)
I had the first of four chemos on Thursday — it's been a little up and down since then, but more up than I thought it would be, which makes it not so bad… of course, maybe I speak in haste, but then again, maybe I don't.

Not just any port in a storm
05.14.09 - 11:25 am (CT)
I'm having a port put in tomorrow morning… you read that right, I did not misspeak, I wasn't saying I was putting into port, I'm not sailing here, the port is for the chemo that starts next week. It's like the I.V. that they put in your hand when you're in the hospital, but it's bigger, goes in near your shoulder, and is hidden under the skin. It beats getting re-stuck every time they need to put in, or take something out, of you, plus chemo can ruin your veins, which is why they put it into your upper chest where there's a big vein.

Anyway, I'll be doing the chemo in three-week cycles till sometime in August with the doctor saying that I'll feel okay the first week, really lousy the second, and just lousy the third week. So, for MindBlog that means my blogging may be sporadic and possibly less sunny in nature, but I will try my darnedest to keep eyeballing my glass as half-full.

"Mama", Happy Mother's Day
05.10.09 - 12:15 am (CT)
A very moving song about the special love that is reserved for our Moms, here is Il Divo singing "Mama" - Live in New York.

I ran across Il Divo a couple of months ago and was somewhat surprised, but more than pleasantly so, by this operatic quartet of men from different countries singing popular songs like I'd never heard them sung before. After listening to a number of their songs at YouTube.com, I think I could like opera… at least their kind anyway. Check out Il Divo performing "Amazing Grace" at the Colosseum in Rome, and if you don't get goosebumps, then I'd have to suggest that you have no bumps to goose.

BTW, I debated whether to put the music video up instead of the live performance video, it was a lively debate, but I finally won, opting for the uplifting live performance in honor of my own sweet Mother. If you'd like to see the official music video, it's also at YouTube.com: "Mama" Music Video - Il Divo.

Dance of the Fairies
05.04.09 - 8:02 am (CT)
Yesterday, I went to a dance recital of mostly 3 - 5 year-olds, one of which was my granddaughter, Hope — she was cute as a Fairy Princess and, surprisingly for a 3-year-old, fairly comfortable on the big stage with all of the lights shining on her. And even though she was only on the stage for just one dance that lasted only a few minutes, it was a delightful hour spent watching all of the little girls dancing their hearts out — my hands were tired from all of the applause for all of their fine performances. Bravo to one of my "sweet everythings" and all of her little twinkle-toed friends!

MY hound dog
05.01.09 - 8:02 am (CT)
Something came up while I was in the hospital, Bob Harper refused to eat, which for a 70+ pound dog is saying a lot, and what it says, is that Harper is most definitely, for real, MY dog… YES!!! So, in honor of the occasion, here's BOB HARPER, the dog!

MY dog, Bob Harper

Another Harper boy, gotta love him!
