Passing thoughts of a Pageminder

Facebook and your business
03.27.11 - 10:33 pm (CT)
No matter the size of your company, getting a FREE Facebook Business Page is a smart business move. In fact, with over 600 million people on Facebook, a business owner would be totally remiss if they didn't use Facebook as a part of their marketing campaign. There are even small businesses who have yet to get a website, who are using their Facebook biz page as a FREE website, even putting it on their business cards… another smart move.

It shouldn't take more than a few hours a week for someone in your marketing department, or any Facebook savvy staffer with a way with words, to come up with very short blurbs — no more than 420 characters — about your business, your products, and/or your services. The updates should be done on a regular basis — at least once a week — to keep your name in front of your customers. And they should offer special information about a current promotion or a unique service or product that you offer.
Hint: Having "Facebook Only" specials is a good way to increase your Fan base, as well as drive sales.
You can make it as simple or as complicated as you want, although simple costs you nothing but the staff time to do updates and to monitor the page. Here's some links to get you started:

Facebook Business Page - Help Center - Help getting started
Create a Facebook Business Page - Simple steps to create a business page
Paid Facebook Advertising - Paying for ads on Facebook

Do remember to keep it light, keep it informative, and keep it professional. Do that, and not only will it entice your customers, but also it may inspire them to "Share" your update with their Facebook Friends.
